I've seen them do the same thing in an airport lounge, with leather straps, some of which hold little boxes to their bodies.

Re: Anyone ever worked with (not for) an Hasidic Jew?
I had the oddest experience involving some Hasidic Jews, travelling back from France through the Eurotunnel a month or so back.

My mate pulled up behind a Toyota Previa in one of the carriages leaving a space behind his car; large but not large enough to fit another vehicle.

Shortly after, about 8 of them got out of the Previa and another car in front of it and made their way to the space behind my friend's car. They all faced the walls of the carriage, pulled out their Torahs and proceeded to chant for a good 20 minutes whilst bowing towards the wall as if they were head butting it. They then pulled out a piece of rope and tied it around themselves. Finally they stopped and went back to the car, except for one, who carried on with the ritual for a further 10 minutes. Obviously the most dedicated of the lot.

I was tempted to film it but for a sign which said photography was forbidden and for fear that they might take offence. As they walked back to the car, one of the guys asked me if I'd filmed it and would stick it up on Whatsapp or YouTube. He almost looked disappointed when I pointed to the sign and told him I hadn't.

It was odd because on the one hand I thought 'each to their own, no harm done' and on the other 'what the fuck was that all about'. The other people in the carriage looked equally bemused.

I guess it's not too dissimilar to the locals praying in the concourse at Upton Park.

I've been working with a gaggle of oven Dodgers this morning at the SHABBAT thing at Brent Cross.

Not Hassidic though.

Just regular ones.

Re: Anyone ever worked with (not for) an Hasidic Jew?
Took my kids on the London Eye a few years ago. Next to it was one of them trampolines with the bungee ropes which pull you up as well. The kids went on it and then after them this fully grown hasidic bloke got on it. Fucking loved it he did. Ringlets flaying in the wind. Holding his hat and glasses on with this big grin on his face. Cunt wouldn't let his kids on though!
Anyway my two wanted a keyring with photos in which you could buy. As I ordered theirs I saw the photo of the flying jew and thought I've got to have that on a keyring.
Bought that as well. Just as the seller handed it over to me whilst I'm pissing myself laughing at it the Jew was right behind me. The look on his beady little face.
Still got that flying jew keyring somewhere.

Anyway, how does the Sabbath work for the Messiah? Is it he can't or won't be leading them to the Promised Land on that day?

Re: Anyone ever worked with (not for) an Hasidic Jew?
I was in Jerusalem recently on the Shabbat, and saw all these Hasidics just waiting around on the side of the road. They are not allowed to drive on the holy day, but it's ok if someone gives them a lift!

My friend who lives there said they arn't supposed to be allowed electricity etc, but they get round it by getting neighbours to come and turn their lights on and off etc for them!

Basically it seems a lot of them say they conform to the Shabbat rules but in practice just make up ways to get round them.

Israel sure is one crazy place. Oh, and Big Macs dont have cheese in them FFS!

Not worked with, but on a work thing in LA I'd see one in the pool every morning while I was on the treadmill. He had one of those Victorian full body swimming costumes, and swam with his head right out of the water to keep his hair dry. Had hoped he would have kept his hat on, but no.

Stoke Newington , cooked fish and rank body odour . . . ..

I used to work for a company in the late 80's called S&W Berisford. They were a commodity brokers (amongst other things) and the chairman was a fella called Ephraim Margulies. He was a little fat eastern european jew, and was also the 'fifth man' in the Guinness scandal of the mid 80's.

Basically, he was as bent as a nine bob note (from a corruption point of view).

I don’t mind Frumers myself and worked for plenty of them, homes and businesses.

Always pay on time, only start moaning if the need arises and they always seem to have a good sense of humour.

It can be somewhat difficult at the negotiating stage, they want the last word even if it is down to what time you start in the morning.
